I really love Mad Hookers Tail Pattern found HERE , but decided to come up with my own fin design that I am sharing with you! I hope you enjoy it!
Fancy Mermaid Tail Fin Pattern by Joyce Elvis
For the sample I made, I used 2 strands of Red Heart Shimmer in Plum held together throughout the pattern. I used not quite 2 balls. If you notice the ball of yarn in the fin photo above, that is all I had left. It was cutting it close! Please make sure you have enough of your yarn choice on hand.
Please add to your Ravelry Queues and Favorites HERE.

f/o leave long tail for seaming
Seam both short sides from the two fins together using the mattress stitch. Moogly has a great video tutorial HERE for the mattress stitch. Weave in ends.
Starting in top straight edge corner attach yarn:
ch 1, work 2 sc in corner and sc around entire tail, working 3 sc’s in corner until you come back to starting point of sc and sl st to join.
Gathering of straight edge:
(ch 1, sc2tog across top straight edge, turn) 3 times
F/O leave long tail for attaching to your mermaid tail.
